Flora non grata (“an unwelcome plant”, in the spirit of persona non grata) is dedicated to the common, urban weed — the little plants that we step on in cracks in the sidewalk, that we take for granted in our daily lives, or that we get frustrated by when they are in locations where they shouldn’t be.
I hope that this blog will be interesting in two ways:
- I have done a little bit of research on these plants and so present some of what I have found out that has interested me (I’m a plant biologist by trade).
- I have used my flatbed scanner and manipulations with Fuji film in order to make interesting images of these plants. They have been scanned at high resolution and so I hope to get some of them up on my walls soon, too.
Let me know if I have succeeded in making weeds interesting and I look forward to any comments you might have!
